Last month, the SNIA Board of Directors, with the consent of ShawTalk’s fearless moderator, Dave Lloyd, approved a set of guidelines for the listserv. The objective was simple: define ShawTalk’s mission, put in writing some common-sense framework for all to keep in mind, and support the listserv (and Dave) with enforcement.
This made sense, especially after the city stopped providing e-mail services through MOREnet and ShawTalk made its transition to a Google Group. In essence, this doesn’t change much of how ShawTalk functions. Dave is still moderator and the listserv will continue to have the same lively exchange of ideas and opinions, as well as the usual neighborly things (ie, borrowing something, recommending a professional or service, etc.).
